Locations
Work sites used for shifts, working patterns, and check-in.
Overview
Go to Admin → Locations. A location is a place people work, such as an office or a client site. Shifts and working patterns can assign that place. If the location has a check-in area, employees can also check in there.
Search the list with Search locations. Each row shows the name, the check-in radius when one is set, the address, the description, and whether the location is active.
Add a location
- Click Add Location
- Enter a Name. This is required. Examples are Office or Remote
- Add an Address if you have one. It is optional
- Add a Description if you need notes. It is optional
- Leave Active on, or turn it off
- Click Create. Editing an existing location uses Update
Note
Inactive locations are hidden from scheduling dropdowns. To remove a location, use the delete action. CitoHR asks you to confirm before it deletes the location.
Set up a check-in area
On the location, turn on Enable check-in area. The section is labelled Check-in area. Employees assigned here can check in. Punches outside the circle are allowed and flagged.
- Search the address with Place pin from address, or move the pin on the map
- Set the radius from 25 to 5,000 metres, in steps of 25. The default is 100 metres
- The pin, the radius, and the address must all be saved together. Turning the check-in area off clears them
Important
A site without a check-in area cannot be used for check-in. Employees assigned to that site see that an admin still needs to set the area. The employee steps are in Check-in.
Use a location
- Working patterns - under Hours & location per day, choose a location for each day that has hours. If no locations exist yet, the pattern form points you here
- Shifts - Location is optional on a shift. Only active locations appear in that list
- Check-in - a site is offered when today's working pattern assigns it and today's hours are greater than zero, or when a published shift at that site is happening now or falls on the same calendar day
Related Features
- Check-in - how employees check in at a site, and how punches outside the circle are reviewed
- Working Patterns - assign a location to each working day
- Scheduling - put a location on a shift
- Timesheets - a check-out at a location becomes a draft timesheet
