How do I: Configure leave approvers

Learn how to set up the approval workflow for leave requests in your organization.

Overview

Leave approvers determine who can approve leave requests from employees. You can configure approvers at the user level, allowing for flexible approval workflows based on your organization's structure.

Accessing User Settings

To configure leave approvers for an employee:

  1. Navigate to Admin > Users
  2. Find and click on the employee whose leave approver you want to configure
  3. Scroll to the "Leave Settings" section

Setting a Leave Approver

To assign a leave approver:

  1. In the "Leave Settings" section, find the "Leave Approver" field
  2. Click the dropdown menu to see available approvers
  3. Select the manager or admin who should approve this employee's leave requests
  4. Click "Save" to apply the changes

Multiple Approvers

Some organizations require multiple levels of approval:

  • Primary Approver - The first person who reviews the request (usually the direct manager)
  • Secondary Approver - An additional approver for high-value or sensitive requests

Bulk Assignment

To assign the same approver to multiple employees:

  1. Navigate to Admin > Users
  2. Use filters to find the employees you want to update (e.g., by department)
  3. Select multiple employees using checkboxes
  4. Click "Bulk Actions" > "Set Leave Approver"
  5. Select the approver and confirm

Default Approvers by Department

You can set default approvers at the department level:

  1. Navigate to Admin > Departments
  2. Select a department
  3. Configure the default leave approver for that department
  4. New employees added to the department will automatically inherit this approver
