Performance Reviews

Complete guide to conducting and participating in performance reviews in CitoHR.

Overview

Performance Reviews enable structured evaluation of employee performance, goal setting, and career development. Employees can complete self-assessments, managers can provide evaluations, and both parties can collaborate on development plans.

Prerequisites

  • You must be logged in to your CitoHR account
  • A performance review cycle must be created and assigned to you by an administrator or manager

Accessing Performance Reviews

  1. Log in to your CitoHR account
  2. Click on Performance Reviews or Reviews in the main navigation menu
  3. You'll see a list of all your performance reviews

Viewing Your Reviews

See all your performance reviews:

  1. On the Performance Reviews page, you'll see a list showing:
    • Review period (e.g., "Q1 2024", "Annual 2024")
    • Status (Draft, In Progress, Pending Manager Review, Completed, etc.)
    • Due date
    • Reviewer name (your manager or reviewer)
    • Progress indicator
  2. Click on a review to open it
  3. Use filters to view:
    • All reviews
    • Pending action (reviews requiring your input)
    • Completed reviews
    • By review period

Completing Your Self-Assessment

Fill out your self-assessment section:

  1. Open a review that's in "Draft" or "In Progress" status
  2. Navigate to the "Self-Assessment" section
  3. Review each evaluation criterion or question
  4. For each item, provide your assessment:
    • Rate your performance (if using a rating scale)
    • Write detailed comments explaining your rating
    • Provide specific examples of achievements or challenges
    • Include metrics or data to support your assessment
  5. Complete all required sections:
    • Performance against goals
    • Key achievements
    • Areas for improvement
    • Skills development
    • Career aspirations
  6. Review your entire self-assessment for completeness
  7. Click "Save Draft" to save progress, or
  8. Click "Submit Self-Assessment" when complete
  9. Once submitted, your manager will be notified to review it

Viewing Manager Feedback

Read your manager's evaluation:

  1. Open a review that has been completed by your manager
  2. Navigate to the "Manager Review" section
  3. Read through your manager's assessment:
    • Performance ratings
    • Strengths identified
    • Areas for improvement
    • Overall comments
    • Goals for next period
  4. Review any development plan or action items
  5. If the review allows comments, you can add your response

Acknowledging a Review

Confirm you've reviewed the completed performance review:

  1. Open a completed review
  2. Read through all sections (self-assessment and manager review)
  3. If you have any comments or questions, add them in the comments section
  4. Click the "Acknowledge Review" button
  5. Confirm your acknowledgment in the dialog
  6. The review will be marked as acknowledged and completed

Creating a Review Cycle (Admin/Manager)

Set up a new performance review cycle:

  1. Navigate to Admin > Performance Reviews
  2. Click "Create Review Cycle" or "New Review"
  3. Fill in the review cycle details:
    • Review Name - Enter a descriptive name (e.g., "Q1 2024 Performance Review")
    • Review Period - Select the time period being reviewed
    • Start Date - When the review cycle begins
    • Self-Assessment Due Date - Deadline for employees to complete self-assessments
    • Manager Review Due Date - Deadline for managers to complete reviews
  4. Configure review settings:
    • Select review template (if available)
    • Choose evaluation criteria or questions
    • Set rating scale (if applicable)
    • Enable/disable employee comments
  5. Select employees to include:
    • Select individual employees, or
    • Select entire departments, or
    • Select by role or other criteria
  6. Click "Create Review Cycle" to finalize
  7. All selected employees will receive notifications about the review

Conducting a Manager Review

Complete your review of an employee:

  1. Navigate to Performance Reviews
  2. Find reviews assigned to you in the "Reviews to Complete" section
  3. Click on an employee's review to open it
  4. Read the employee's self-assessment first
  5. Complete your evaluation for each criterion:
    • Provide performance ratings
    • Write detailed feedback for each area
    • Identify strengths with specific examples
    • Identify areas for improvement with actionable suggestions
    • Compare your assessment with the employee's self-assessment
  6. Set goals for the next period:
    • Define specific, measurable goals
    • Set target dates
    • Add notes or success criteria
  7. Create a development plan (if applicable):
    • Identify skills to develop
    • Suggest training or resources
    • Set milestones
  8. Add overall comments summarizing the review
  9. Click "Save Draft" to save progress, or
  10. Click "Complete Review" when finished
  11. The employee will be notified that their review is ready

Viewing Review History

Access past performance reviews:

  1. On the Performance Reviews page, click the "History" tab
  2. You'll see a chronological list of all past reviews
  3. Click on any review to view its details
  4. Use filters to find specific reviews:
    • By year
    • By review period
    • By reviewer
